Write a paper on one of the following topics. Make sure you address
each part of the topic. For due date and length, see the syllabus.
Remember: a paper without arguments is like a house built on
quicksand.
1. Explain in detail the charge that the tenseless theory of time is unable to account for our different attitudes between past and future. Then, discuss how a detenser could reply. Explain what you think of the detenser’s reply and why.
2. Explain in your own words the Tristram Shandy objection to the possibility of an infinite time. Is the objection powerful? Discuss.
3. Carefully state in your own words McTaggart’s argument for the unreality of the A-series. Are they successful? Explain.
4. What are the relations between the A-series and the B-series? Can the B-series view of time account for change? Discuss.
