SIUE Kimmel Belonging and Engagement Hub Announces New Director
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) Assistant Vice Chancellor for Inclusive Excellence, Education, and Development Lindy Wagner has named Stephanie Weiskopf as director of the Kimmel Belonging and Engagement Hub. Weiskopf will assume her new responsibilities on January 16, 2024.
“I am thrilled to be joining the SIUE community,” said Weiskopf. “I believe in the mission and vision for the Kimmel Belonging and Engagement Hub and am excited to work with students, staff, and faculty to offer transformational experiences that build an inclusive community where students thrive and feel like they belong.”
“Stephanie has ample experience that easily translates into our newly organized foundational pillars of the Kimmel Belonging and Engagement Hub,” said Wagner. “Additionally, she has previously led a team during a multi-department merger at a previous institution. These specific skills uniquely qualify her to lead our newly formed unit. She will play a key role in leading the work of the Kimmel Belonging and Engagement Hub as it works to refine its current programs and initiatives in a way that not only creates a sense of belonging for students, but also aids in retention efforts in alignment with the institutional strategic plan,”
“I want to thank the search committee for bringing four excellent candidates to campus, and Tammy Taylor, PhD for chairing the committee. It was only with the hard work and dedication of her and the committee that we were able to have some outstanding options for this position.”
Weiskopf has more than 11 years of experience working in higher education and arrives to SIUE after serving in multiple roles at Washington University in St. Louis. Previous roles include Associate Director of Residential Faculty Engagement; Lead Instructor for the Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement; Associate Director of the Center for Diversity and Inclusion; and Associate Director for Campus Life. In these roles, she amassed experience in curriculum and course content development; directed a common reading program; bias incident response protocols; student leadership; equity, diversity and inclusion, and civic engagement.
Prior to her arrival at Washington University, Weiskopf served as the Director of Student Involvement at Wellesley College in Wellesley, MA. In this role she was responsible for building an inaugural department, which included student government, 200 student organizations, three student run businesses, and support for more than 300 student organization events. This also included development of risk management and other policies and procedures for the co-curricular experience. Weiskopf also developed and implemented training and leadership development opportunities for students.
Weiskopf earned a bachelor of arts in organizational communication in 2008 from the University of Montana, and a master’s of education in Student Development Administration in 2012 from Seattle University.
