KMOV News 4 Features SIUE Partnership in new Environmental Justice Academy
Connie Frey Spurlock, PhD and director of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Successful Communities Collaborative, appears in KMOV Television News coverage of a free 10-month academy to train Metro East residents to solve environmental issues in their communities. The Environmental Protection Agency launched The Environmental Justice Academy in partnership with SIUE.
The academy opens January 2024. Participants will learn how to best navigate flooding, sewage, illegal dumping, chemical spills, oil spills and various environmental issues in the Metro East. SIUE will provide technical assistance.
The academy will be held online and in person at the Kappa House in East St. Louis through October 2024.
The deadline to apply for the free program is November 9.
