General Assistantship (1923-2024)

Qualifications

The Graduate Assistant position within the Morris University Center is a 20 hour a week assistantship focused on providing weekend leadership to student workers on the Production Team for event setups and teardowns and Student Building Managers for everyday operation of the MUC. This position reports directly to the Events Services Manager.

Position Description

• Hire, train, and supervise Student Production Team = 20-25 student employees.
• Hire, train, and supervise Student Building Managers = 10-15 student employees.
• Meet with student employees to complete semesterly check-in/evaluation documents provided by Student Affairs
• Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for Student Production Team and Student Building Managers coordination with Resource Coordinator and Relationship.
• Schedule and facilitate a monthly Production Team Meeting and Student Building Managers to go over areas of concern/provide direction and updates.
• Create and distribute Student Production Team and Student Building Manager schedules.
• Coordinate a shift change / call-off process for Student Production Team and Student Building Managers to ensure appropriate staffing and fill-in as needed.
• Enter and submit time reporting for Student Production Team and Student Building Managers.
• Attend weekly Production meetings to go over upcoming events and setups.
• Attend one on one meetings with supervisor as needed.
• Work closely with the Building Service Worker Sub-Forman to address performance issues within the Production Team through training and corrective action as needed.
• Hold at least 10 hours of work time on weekends during the hours in which the MUC is open to provide leadership to Production Team Members and Student Building Managers and ensure weekend setups and tear downs are handled appropriately.
• Other duties as assigned.
