With more than 100 Honors Bestowed, SIUE’s School of Engineering Recognizes Outstanding Achievements in Education
On April 4, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s School of Engineering (SOE) held its 18th annual SOE Awards Reception. The more than 100 award winners included scholarship recipients, donors and student organizations. There were more than 250 in attendance.
“Today's celebration is not only a recognition of the achievements of the individuals we are acknowledging today but also a celebration of the power of education,” said Cem Karacal, PhD, professor of industrial engineering and Dean of SOE. “Through education, we can unlock potential and transform lives. Our award winners and scholarship recipients are a testament to this truth, and we are proud to support them in their academic pursuits.”
SOE presented 35 Outstanding Awards to members of the 2024 faculty, staff, alumni, graduate students and third and fourth-year undergraduates. Ninety student scholarships, totaling $137,000, were awarded and made possible by generous School of Engineering donors.
SIUE Cougar Baja was awarded the Student Organization of the Year Traveling Trophy. Other nominated student organizations included: Society of Women Engineers (SWE), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and Solar Car team.
Congratulations to the School of Engineering.
