SIUE Hosts Regional Economic Summit for Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity
On March 18, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville hosted a regional workshop sponsored by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO). The Department is in the process of updating the state of Illinois five-year economic plan and requested assistance from the Illinois Innovation Network (IIN) and its member institutions, such as SIUE.
“SIUE is proud to partner with DCEO and the Illinois Innovation Network to host and facilitate these important conversations about economic development in our region and for the state,” said Denise Cobb, PhD, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. “As a university community, we are committed to supporting the talent and workforce needs of the region while powering innovation, research, and discovery.”
DCEO is on a mission to create equitable economic opportunities across the State of Illinois. The Department focuses on economic growth for the state of Illinois in the following areas: Business Development; Community Development; Employment & Training; Energy and Recycling; Energy Assistance; Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Technology; Film; Tourism; Trade & Investment; and Urban Assistance.
